What does Fast Cover’s Bali travel insurance cover?

This is only a summary of some benefits available. Not all benefits apply to all policies, so always review the PDS before deciding to buy.

In case you are seriously injured or sick whilst in Bali, cover is available to cover the costs for the flight home or to get to the nearest hospital.^

Fast Cover’s Australian-based emergency assistance hotline provides 24/7 support for unforeseen overseas medical emergencies with access to experienced medical support services arranged by our Emergency Assistance team, who you can call wherever you are in Bali, at any time. ^

This benefit is available to provide protection against the financial burden of unexpected overseas emergency medical and hospital expenses associated with unexpected illness or injuries, incurred by you during your trip to Bali. ^

You can take out a Bali travel insurance policy with cancellation cover up to 12 months before you travel. This can come in handy if you want to take measures to help protect the non-refundable bookings you’ve already paid, like flights, accommodation, cruises and tours, if you’re not able to travel to Bali due to an unexpected emergency that is covered under the policy.^

Bad weather or other covered events can throw a spanner in the works on your holiday to Bali. This benefit is available to provide cover for reimbursement of reasonable additional meals and accommodation expenses up to $200 for each traveller (excluding dependants) for each 24 hour period if your scheduled transport is delayed for at least 6 hours from the time your transport was scheduled to depart. ^

This benefit is available to provide cover for loss, theft or damage to your luggage and personal belongings such as phones, cameras and laptops while you travel around Bali. Conditions including maximum cover limits, sub-limits on how much you can claim for each type of item and the situations in which we would provide cover apply. ^

Optional extras for your Bali travel insurance

Fast Cover's optional add-ons allow you to customise your travel insurance policy so you can include cover for a range of activities and adventures in Bali.

Travellers aged 74 and under at the date of policy issue embarking on adventures throughout Bali’s unique landscapes and locations can add on the Adventure Pack for an additional premium to cover an extra list of adrenaline-pumping activities such as water skiing, scuba diving to 30m, quad biking and more. ^

Riding a scooter is a great way to explore Bali’s hidden gems. Travellers aged 74 and under at the date of policy issue who want to ride or be a passenger on a scooter, moped or motorcycle, will need to add the Motorcycle Pack to their Bali travel insurance policy. ^

If you’re embarking on a cruise holiday in Balinese waters for 4 nights or more, add our cruise cover to your Bali travel insurance policy for additional cover in case of unexpected emergencies on-board the cruise ship and during onshore excursions. ^

Planning to cycle through scenic Bali? If your bicycle is under three years old, valued at $1,500 or more and free of defects at the time of policy purchase, our Bicycle Pack is available to provide cover for your bike if it is permanently lost, stolen or accidentally damaged during your trip to Bali. ^

If you would like to cover your valuable items for more than what they’re covered for under the standard luggage and personal effects terms and conditions, you can choose to specify them as a specified high value item for an additional premium. ^

Renting a car is a great way to explore Bali at your own pace. If your rental vehicle is in an accident, damaged or stolen during your trip to Bali, Fast Cover can, depending on the policy chosen, provide additional cover of up to $8,000 for the rental vehicle insurance excess component of your rental vehicle insurance with your car hire company. ^

Cover for existing medical conditions

If you have any existing medical conditions, you may be able to apply to include cover for them. Our simple medical screening process can be completed online or over the phone to help you find out if your condition can be covered.

Select who needs cover

Once you've added all travellers, to your policy, you can select those who wish to add cover for any existing medical conditions.

Take a medical screening

Answer a few questions online or over the phone about your health history. This helps us determine if your condition can be covered.

Choose to add cover

We'll let you know if we can provide cover for any existing medical conditions. You can then choose to add it to your policy.

To find out more about our medical screening process, and how the policy will apply in relation to an existing medical condition, please read and consider the PDS for eligibility criteria, terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub limits that apply.

Insurance cover options for your trip to Bali

At Fast Cover, we have a range of coverage options available for your trip to Bali. The below options are a summary of some of the benefits available under the various policy options, please see the PDS for full details.

Comprehensive Travel Insurance

Comprehensive Travel Insurance is Fast Cover's most popular policy option. It provides the highest level of cover for the widest range of unexpected situations like medical and hospital expenses, overseas emergency medical assistance, accidental death and loss of income.^

Standard Saver Travel Insurance

The Standard Saver Travel Insurance policy provides many benefits similar to our Comprehensive policy but usually lower limits, such as trip cancellation and trip disruption, as well as relating to your health and luggage and personal belongings when you travel.^

Basics (Medical Only) Travel Insurance

Our Basics Travel Insurance policy type is a simple way of taking steps to obtain cover for one of the most important things in life - your health. You can also apply to customise your policy and include cover under the luggage and personal effects benefit up to $2000.^

More than one trip? Consider Multi-Trip Travel Insurance for Frequent Travellers

If you travel to Bali frequently, you can get a quote for a Frequent Traveller Saver Policy when you take out travel insurance for Bali. We can provide cover for an unlimited number of trips in a 12 month period up to a specified number of days each trip.^

Do I need travel insurance for Bali?

Depending on the policy chosen, travel insurance for Bali can help to better prepare you to deal with unexpected and unforeseen circumstances such as injury or sickness as well as trip cancellation and disruption expenses. One way to prepare for this is by making international travel insurance for Bali a priority. ^

Here are some situations which you might consider when deciding if you need travel insurance for Bali and whether your international travel insurance policy can provide cover for these situations:

Becoming unexpectedly sick or injured could force you to cancel your trip to Bali. Rescheduling a cancelled trip and dealing with lost deposits and non-refundable flights and accommodation can become stressful and expensive. Consider if your international travel insurance can provide cover for trip cancellation expenses.

If you need to cancel your trip to Bali due to an existing medical condition, you could be left out of pocket for non-refundable pre-paid trip bookings. You may wish to check if your travel insurance policy can provide cover for trip cancellation expenses if you need to cancel your trip due to your existing medical condition/s.

Bad weather and other covered events could cause delays and mean you might have to spend extra money on food and accommodation while you wait for a new flight to Bali. Consider if your travel insurance can provide cover for travel delay expenses such as additional meals and accommodation.

If your scheduled transport to special events is cancelled, delayed, shortened or diverted, you could risk spending thousands of dollars on additional transport to make it to your special events on time. Worse yet, you could miss out on special events you’ve already booked and paid for. Consider if your travel insurance for Bali can provide cover for special event transport expenses.

These are only some of the situations that you might wish to consider when deciding if you need travel insurance for Bali. Please do your own research to consider whether travel insurance is right for your personal and financial circumstances.

Before you decide whether you need travel insurance for Bali, you should read the PDS to check what our international travel insurance policies will and won’t cover you for, any conditions and exclusions that might apply to you and whether the policy provides the cover that you’re looking for. Any advice is general advice only and does not take into account your individual objectives, financial situation or needs.

What is the best travel insurance for Bali?

The best travel insurance policy for your trip to Bali is a policy that provides cover for the type of trip that you’re taking. When looking for the best travel insurance for Bali, it’s important to choose a travel insurance policy that aligns with your specific travel needs. This might include the nature of your trip to Bali, who you are travelling with, the types of activities you plan to do and other considerations that apply to you and your trip.

Here are some examples of things you may wish to consider when reviewing travel insurance policy options for Bali:

Have you booked your Bali tour, accommodation or flights?

You may wish to consider whether the policy includes cancellation cover in case you can’t travel to Bali due to an unforeseen circumstance such as an unexpected illness or injury.

Have you just bought a new phone and you’re worried that it will be stolen in Bali?

You may wish to consider whether the policy includes cover for luggage and personal effects, including any applicable limits, sub-limits or conditions.

Will you be riding or be a passenger on a motorcycle, moped or scooter in Bali?

You may wish to check whether the policy provides cover for injuries resulting from those activities, and what conditions (such as licencing requirements or helmet use) may apply.

Perhaps you’ll be renting a vehicle while in Bali?

You may wish to check whether the policy provides cover for the rental vehicle excess component of the rental vehicle insurance with your car hire company overseas in case your rental vehicle is in an accident, damaged or stolen during your trip abroad.

Will you be doing adventurous activities like riding a quad bike or zip lining in Bali?

You might wish to consider whether your policy provides cover for these activities or whether you need to add cover and pay an additional premium to include cover for those activities.

These are just some of the considerations that you might wish to consider when looking for the best travel insurance policy for Bali, so you know what cover is available to you before and during your trip to Bali.

Before you decide on the best travel insurance for Bali, you should read the PDS to check what the policy will and won’t cover you for, any conditions and exclusions that might apply to you and whether the policy provides the cover that you’re looking for.

What is not covered in our Bali travel insurance?

It’s important to know not just what your travel insurance covers, but also what it doesn’t, so you can choose the right policy for your needs. As with all policies, many situations and activities will have terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub limits that you need to be aware of.

Here are some examples of when cover may not be available. Always check the PDS and TMD to understand the policy terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub limits before making your decision.

If you become injured while breaking the law, there are various conditions and exclusions that may apply which means you may not be covered. This could include riding a motorcycle without the required helmet, or while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Remember that possession of certain drugs are illegal in Bali. Using drugs or selling them can land you in trouble with the law in Bali.

It’s not illegal to have a drink while in Bali, but if you’ve drunk alcohol excessively, there are certain exclusions that will likely apply. That means if you’re under the influence of alcohol and you stumble and hurt yourself, you may not have cover under your policy.

Certain drugs are illegal in Bali and you may not be covered by your Bali travel insurance policy when you’ve taken drugs. Keep in mind that the legal drinking age in Bali is 21.

If you’re injured in an accident while for example, riding a moped and you didn’t add the Motorcycle Pack to your Bali travel insurance policy, you’ll likely be responsible for paying your medical and hospital expenses because you did not choose to include cover for that under your policy.

It is important to think about what activities you will be participating in so that you have the right cover for the activities you plan to do in Bali.

If something of yours is stolen while unattended or unsupervised, you may not be able to claim for the stolen item. For example: If you leave your bag with your wallet and passport inside it on the beach while you go for a swim, this will be considered leaving your belongings unattended, in which case you may not be covered. Make sure you keep your belongings with you at all times or keep them in a secure location.

There are exclusions that apply for regular or routine check-ups or filling regular prescriptions as they are not considered medical emergencies. If you require regular medication, bring enough of what you’ll need for your Bali holiday before you leave Australia.

Should the Australian Government release a warning on Smartraveller that certain areas in Bali are no longer safe to travel to and you still choose to travel there anyway, there may be exclusions that will apply such as if you do not follow advice in the mass media where a travel advisory risk rating of Do Not Travel was issued after policy purchase.

Known events are serious situations, from natural disasters like volcanic eruptions from Mount Agung, to disease outbreaks, which can affect your holiday plans and also the cover on your travel insurance policy for Bali.

If you buy your Bali travel insurance after an event is deemed a known event, the cover on your policy may be affected. You should check for any Travel Alerts that may have been issued for Bali so you know where you stand with regards to the cover that you will have on your Bali travel insurance policy.

Perhaps the weather was bad, the streets were too crowded or your accommodation didn’t live up to the pictures online. Whatever the reason you’re unhappy with how your holiday has shaped up, your travel insurance policy for Bali is not intended to compensate you because you didn’t enjoy your time there.

As each individual’s circumstances are different, we will assess each claim on a case by case basis and in accordance with your specific circumstances, policy terms and Certificate of Insurance.

Compare Bali travel insurance benefits

Depending on the level of cover you take out with our Bali travel insurance policy, Fast Cover can provide you with different benefits to suit your travel plans, helping you to better prepare for and deal with unexpected medical and financial circumstances.

The table below is only a summary of benefits. Each level of cover is subject to full policy terms, conditions, limits, sub-limits, and exclusions as per our PDS available on our website. Benefit limits shown apply per person for both Singles and Duo policies. # These benefit limits are shared between Duo policy holders. ~ These benefit limits are shared between travellers under a Family policy. This means the benefit amount is for the whole family to be used together, not for each person separately. ^ Cover under these benefits are excluded while travelling within Australia. If you hold a Frequent Traveller Saver policy, the benefit limits apply to the combined total of all claims made by all covered travellers (including an accompanying spouse/partner and dependants) listed on the Certificate of Insurance.
