Fast Cover's Motorcycle Pack is designed for a wide range of Aussie travellers aged 74 and under who plan to ride or travel as a passenger on a motorcycle, moped or scooter overseas, including:
Please read and consider the PDS for eligibility criteria, terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub limits that apply.
Whether you’re planning to ride a scooter in Thailand, go sightseeing on a moped in Europe or embark on a cross-country motorcycle tour of the US, we understand that unexpected situations and factors outside of your control can arise while travelling on two wheels, leaving you with out of pocket expenses. Travel insurance with cover motorcycle riding can help you deal with unforeseen events if the unexpected happens.
Please consider your personal and financial circumstances, along with the T&Cs of our PDS, before deciding whether Fast Cover’s Motorcycle Pack and eligible policy is right for you.
Here are some situations which you might consider when deciding if you need travel insurance with cover for riding a motorcycle for your next trip and whether your travel insurance policy can provide cover for these situations:
Becoming unexpectedly sick or injured could force you to cancel your motorcycle trip. Rescheduling a cancelled holiday and dealing with lost deposits and non-refundable motorcycling tours, flights and accommodation can become stressful and expensive. Consider if your travel insurance can provide cover for trip cancellation expenses.
If you need to cancel your motorcycling holiday due to an existing medical condition, you could be left out of pocket for non-refundable pre-paid trip bookings. You may wish to check if your travel insurance can provide cover for trip cancellation expenses if you need to cancel your motorcycle trip due to your existing medical condition.
If you have any existing medical conditions, you may be able to apply to include cover for them during your trip. Fast Cover’s simple medical screening process can be completed online or over the phone to help you find out if your existing medical or pregnancy condition can be covered.
Consider whether your travel insurance can provide cover if you become sick or injured while being a rider or passenger on a motorcycle, moped or scooter overseas and incur emergency medical and hospital expenses.
This could include treatment for fractures, dislocations, cuts, infections or other unexpected injuries sustained while travelling on a motorcycle, moped or scooter overseas. You may also wish to check whether your policy can provide cover for overseas emergency medical evacuation or repatriation if you require urgent medical transport, particularly if you’ll be visiting remote destinations or challenging motorcycle routes.
If you experience a medical emergency while travelling on a motorcycle, moped or scooter overseas, consider whether your travel insurance policy includes access to 24/7 emergency medical assistance services.
Depending on your situation and location, emergency assistance teams may be able to help arrange medical treatment, hospital admissions, emergency transport or communication support during an overseas medical emergency.
While rare, serious accidents resulting in death can happen while travelling on a motorcycle, moped or scooter overseas. Consider whether your travel insurance policy includes benefits for accidental death if you suffer a serious injury resulting in death as a result of riding or being a passenger on a motorcycle, moped or scooter during your overseas trip.
If your scheduled transport to your motorcycling tour is cancelled, delayed, shortened or diverted you could risk spending thousands of dollars on additional transport to make it to your tour on time. Worse yet, you could miss out on special events you’ve already booked and paid for. Consider if your travel insurance can provide cover for special event transport expenses.
These are only some of the situations that you might wish to consider when deciding if you need travel insurance with cover for motorcycle riding. Please do your own research to consider whether travel insurance is right for your personal and financial circumstances.
Before you decide whether you need travel insurance for a motorcycle trip, you should read the PDS to check what our policies will and won’t cover you for, any conditions and exclusions that might apply to you and whether the policy provides the cover that you’re looking for. Any advice is general advice only and does not take into account your individual objectives, financial situation or needs.
The best travel insurance for a motorcycle trip can be considered as a policy that provides cover for the type of trip and activities you’re planning. When comparing travel insurance for trips that involves riding a motorcycle, moped or scooter, it’s important to choose a policy that aligns with your specific travel plans and the activities you intend to participate in.
Here are some examples of things you may wish to consider when comparing travel insurance policies with cover for riding a motorcycle to help you decide which policy may be right for you:
The best travel insurance for a motorcycle trip isn’t always the cheapest policy available; it’s the policy that provides a suitable level of cover for your trip, destination and planned activities.
Fast Cover offers a range of travel insurance policies which travellers can add the Motorcycle Pack to. For example, our Comprehensive, Standard Saver, Basics, Snow Sports Plus, and Frequent Traveller Saver policies all allow you to add on the Motorcycle Pack, but the policies vary in coverage and benefit limits available.
When comparing policies, always read the PDS, review what benefits are included, and check the applicable benefit limits, exclusions and conditions. Understanding the scope of cover can help you decide which policy may be right for your travel plans.
Getting sick or injured while riding or being a passenger on a motorcycle, moped or scooter overseas can be stressful and costly. Medical treatment, hospital stays and emergency transport overseas can quickly result in significant out of pocket expenses in some countries.
Fast Cover’s eligible international travel insurance policies can provide unlimited cover for:
in circumstances covered under the policy. ^
When comparing travel insurance for motorcycle trips, you may wish to consider whether the policy include similar medical benefits.
Have you booked flights, tours or accommodation for your motorcycle trip?
You may wish to consider whether your travel insurance policy includes cancellation and disruption benefits in case your travel plans are unexpectedly impacted by unforeseen circumstances, such as an unexpected illness, injury or other covered events before or during your trip.
The type of activities you plan on doing during your trip can impact the level of cover you need. Some travellers are simply sightseeing or exploring local towns by scooter, while others might be adding adventure activities like quad biking, hiking at high altitudes or tandem skydiving.
When comparing policies, check if they include cover for these activities or allow you to add optional extras to provide cover for these activities. Depending on the policy you choose with Fast Cover, you may be able to add optional extras like the Adventure Pack for an additional premium to provide cover for a wide range of adventure activities. It’s important to choose a policy which allows you to add cover for all the activities you plan to do.
These are just some of the considerations that you might wish to consider when reviewing the best travel insurance for motorcycle trips, so you know what cover is available to you before and during your trip. Please remember to do your own research regarding this to make an informed decision based on your personal and financial circumstances.
Before you decide on the best travel insurance with motorcycle cover, you should read the PDS to check what the policy will and won’t cover you for, any conditions and exclusions that might apply to you and whether the policy provides the cover that you’re looking for. Any advice is general advice only and does not take into account your individual objectives, personal or financial situation or needs.
It’s important to know not just what your travel insurance covers, but also what it doesn’t, so you can choose the right policy for your needs. As with all policies, many situations and activities will have terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub limits that you need to be aware of and consider before buying travel insurance.
Here are some examples of when cover may not be available. Always check the PDS and TMD to understand the policy terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub limits before making your decision to buy.
If you’re injured in an accident while, for example, riding a scooter in Bali, and you didn’t add the Motorcycle Pack to your eligible travel insurance policy, you may be responsible for paying your overseas medical and hospital expenses because you did not choose to include cover for that under your policy.
It is important to think about what activities you will be participating in so that you have the right cover for the activities you plan to do on your trip.
The Motorcycle Pack is available at an additional premium as an optional cover for Aussie travellers aged 74 and under (at the date of policy issue) when they purchase a Comprehensive, Standard Saver, Basics, Snow Sports Plus, or Frequent Traveller Saver policy. Travellers aged 75 and over at the date of policy issue are not eligible for the Motorcycle Pack.
Failing to meet the licencing requirements relevant to you riding or being a passenger on a motorcycle, moped or scooter will affect the cover on your policy. You must comply with the restrictions of your Australian license, as well as the local laws.
There is no cover if you are the rider in control of a motorcycle, moped or scooter with an engine capacity:
There is no cover if you are the passenger on a motorcycle, moped or scooter and the person in control does not hold a current licence (Provisional or higher) valid for the same class of motorcycle, moped or scooter being ridden, or their licence is not valid for the country that you are in.
Our policy does not provide cover for damage to, or theft of, the motorcycle, moped or scooter itself. This applies whether the vehicle is owned or hired. If you are hiring a motorcycle, moped or scooter, check with the rental company about their own insurance or damage waiver options.
The Motorcycle Pack does not provide cover if the claim or loss is for:
If you become injured while breaking the law, there are various conditions and exclusions that may apply which means you may not be covered. For example, if you ride a motorcycle, moped or scooter without wearing the required safety gear such as a crash helmet or while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The Motorcycle Pack does not provide cover for riding off road. Cover is only available when riding on either sealed or unsealed public roads. There is also no cover for motocross, jumping, racing or competition of any sort.
There is no cover under the Benefit 14: Luggage & Personal Effects for items left with a motorcycle, moped or scooter, even in a locked storage compartment. Please note there is also no cover for hired items such as a hired helmet or safety gear.
Should the Australian Government release a warning on official government Smartraveller website that certain areas overseas are no longer safe to travel to and you still choose to travel there anyway, there may be exclusions that will apply such as if you do not follow advice in the mass media where a travel advisory risk rating of Do Not Travel was issued after policy purchase.
Note: We are unable to offer travel insurance to international destinations that have a Do Not Travel warning on official government Smartraveller website. To check which countries we may cover, enter your destination country in the quote box on our website.
Perhaps the traffic was bad, you didn’t enjoy your motorcycle tour, or the route didn’t live up to the expectation. Whatever the reason you’re unhappy with how your motorcycle trip has shaped up, your travel insurance policy is not intended to compensate you because you didn’t enjoy your time there.
As each individual’s circumstances are different, we will assess each claim on a case by case basis and in accordance with your specific circumstances, policy terms and Certificate of Insurance.
Depending on the level of cover you take out with our travel insurance policy, Fast Cover can provide you with different benefits to suit your travel plans, helping you to better prepare for and deal with unexpected medical and financial circumstances. Compare some of our travel insurance policies below. Please note the Motorcycle Pack is not available with the Domestic Plus policy.
The table below is only a summary of benefits. Each level of cover is subject to full policy terms, conditions, limits, sub-limits, and exclusions as per our PDS available on our website. Benefit limits shown apply per person for both Singles and Duo policies. # These benefit limits are shared between Duo policy holders. ~ These benefit limits are shared between travellers under a Family policy. This means the benefit amount is for the whole family to be used together, not for each person separately. ^ Cover under these benefits are excluded while travelling within Australia. If you hold a Frequent Traveller Saver policy, the benefit limits apply to the combined total of all claims made by all covered travellers (including an accompanying spouse/partner and dependants) listed on the Certificate of Insurance.
